CHATTANOOGA, TN — Will Coulter was a captain in the Army. He did 2 tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.
"The Afghanistan deployment - that was a 15-month deployment... When you come back, a lot of people don't realize there's a lot of scars that are still there. It may not be a physical scar. A lot of times it's a mental." Continue reading below or click here to WATCH FULL VIDEO INTERVIEW by Josh Roe/ABC News9. Will says all of those tours were challenging during the deployments and after. "With [our military] being at war for 20 years in Afganistan, I think it does change people's brains, right? I had four soldiers that were that had taken their own lives post deployment, two while I was in, and then two while I've been out."
Will wanted to do something to help other veterans and do something to make an impact on the crisis of veteran suicide. He says he's a big believer in the music therapy programs provided by Freedom Sings USA, so he's hosting a golf tournament to raise money to help Freedom Sings help more veterans
According to Will, Freedom Sings USA is hoping to make this an annual event, and they plan to honor a different service member each year.
